A teen was arrested after a brawl erupted during a high school basketball game on Long Island last week, school officials say.

The student was arrested in connection with the fight during a boys varsity basketball game at North Babylon High School against Copiague High School on Thursday, according to a statement from the school district. The student was suspended from school after the brawl.

"The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority and the district is diligent in its efforts to provide a safe and secure environment for all who enter our buildings," said Salvatore Carambia, the Interim Superintendent of North Babylon School District.

Amateur video from the game shows what appears to be dozens of students fighting along the the baseline of the court. The people fighting can be seen wailing one one another and tackling each other to the ground as security officers try to keep other people at bay.

One security guard suffered a concussion in the fight, but no other major injuries were reported.

It's not clear what sparked the fight.
