No One's Stealing This Baby Jesus

Church uses GPS to keep nativity scene intact

If the Christmas spirit and knowing right from wrong aren’t enough to stop people from stealing Baby Jesus from local nativity scenes, GPS technology might do the trick.

Some local parishes and synagogues are using GPS devices to safeguard nativity scenes and menorahs after Brickhouse Security, a New York-based firm, offered to loan free devices to religious institutions to protect them against burglary during the holidays.

If an object containing a GPS advice travels more than 15 feet out of its designated area, the system sends out cell phone and e-mail alerts. It can locate the Baby Jesus before he gets too far from the manger.
