A man was killed and another one injured in a drive-by shooting less than three hours into the new year in Newark.
The violence took place in the 200 block of Chadwick Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday.
Police said the gunfire came from a silver sedan, into a 1992 Buick Century, killing the still-unidentified driver.
The first homicide of the year there came just hours after police and city officials touted the dramatic drop in such crimes.
No arrests have been made.
