Cops Find Mom Choking Twin Preemies in NJ Home: Police

Police responding to a 911 call in Newark found a woman choking her premature 8-week-old twins inside her home Tuesday morning, authorities say.

Newark and state police went to the home at Leslie Street near Clinton Avenue at about 11 a.m. and found the 25-year-old mother holding both twin babies, a boy and a girl, in a chokehold under her arms, police said.

Officers struggled with the mother as they tried to take the children from her, according to Newark police. She tightened her grip on the babies and swung them around violently as they struggled to breathe.

The children and their mother were taken to University Hospital for treatment, and are in stable condition.

The mother, Faith Edohen, is charged with two counts of child endangerment. It's not clear if she has an attorney.
