A man who was shot and wounded in Newark has died from his injuries.
Essex County prosecutors say 32-year-old city resident Shahid Finch was shot around 6 p.m. Friday on the 500 block of Central Avenue. He was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead there about an hour later.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined, and no arrests have been made. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The slaying was the 93rd homicide in the city this year.
Further details on the shooting were not disclosed, including what type of weapon was used and how many shooters may have been involved.
