Co-Worker Arrested in Newark Woman's Homicide

Siliva Paucar, 37, was discovered by her son in her car

Police have arrested a 32-year-old Newark man in the homicide of a woman found unresponsive in her car Wednesday night.

Roberto Ortiz was charged in the choking death of 37-year-old Silvia Paucar, who was discovered by her 16-year-old son and her brother in her vehicle in Newark after she failed to return home following night classes.

Paucar was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m.

The Essex County prosecutor's chief of detectives, Anthony Ambrose, would not comment on a motive in the killing, and did not describe a relationship between Paucar and Ortiz, saying only they worked at the same company.

Ortiz is being held on $1 million bail.
