Police in the Bahamas say a U.S. citizen on a cruise to the island chain has died in an apparent drowning.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force identified the man only as a 38-year-old from New York and did not release his name or hometown.
He appeared to have drowned while swimming Thursday off Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the northern Bahamas. Police said an autopsy would be done to confirm the cause of death.
The man was a passenger on the Disney Wonder on a five-night cruise to the Bahamas that departed from Miami.
Disney spokeswoman Angela Bliss said crew members and medical personnel responded immediately to the incident and the company is working with Bahamian authorities in the investigation.
