Long Island Dentist Accused of Illegal Painkiller Distribution

A Long Island dentist is accused of conspiring to distribute prescription painkillers for his wife and two of her friends.

John Gordon, who has a practice in Islip Terrace, was arraigned Tuesday in federal court in Central Islip.

Authorities say his wife, Carla, also was charged with illegal distribution of the painkillers. They were released on $50,000 bond each.

Newsday says court papers allege that the dentist wrote over 1,500 prescriptions between 2012 and 2014.

The Gordons did not enter a plea and left the courthouse without commenting. Attorney information for the couple wasn't immediately available.
