New York High School Basketball Player Revived After Collapsing During Game

Authorities in suburban New York City say a high school basketball player was revived after collapsing during a game.

The Journal News reports the 17-year-old Blind Brook High School student went into cardiac arrest Wednesday during a game against Pelham Memorial High School at Pelham Middle School. According to the Pelham Fire Department, a Pelham police officer was able to defibrillate and start CPR on the player before first responders arrived.

Pelham Public Schools said in a statement the player was taken to New Rochelle Hospital. Authorities have not released the name of the student.

Officials suspended the game following the medical emergency. It was the first round of the Pelham Holiday Hoops Tournament.
