Rockland Cop Suspended After Domestic Violence Arrest in Connecticut

A Rockland County cop was suspended Wednesday after being arrested on domestic violence charges in Connecticut, officials say.

Clarkstown Police Officer William Oliver was stripped of his badge and gun following the arrest following an incident with an ex-girlfriend in Stamford on Monday, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

"The department takes domestic violence issues very seriously," the department said in a statement. "The department will take appropriate action based upon the outcome of the case."

Oliver had been with the department for 11 years at the time of his arrest, Clarkstown Police say. Specific details on the incident weren't immediately available, but NBC 4 New York has reached out to the Stamford Police Department.

Attorney information for Oliver wasn't immediately available.
