Rainy Evening Ahead Amid Tri-State's Warm Streak

Tri-staters will be treated to another day of T-shirt weather Monday, but a bout of rain moving through the region this evening put a damper on the day, Storm Team 4 says.

Temperatures climbed above the 60-degree mark Monday afternoon ahead of the wet-weather system that began moving through the region later in the evening. Some parts of the region could see more record highs, though it's likely to be cooler than Sunday's balmy conditions.

Heavier rain is expected to move through later Monday night. Winds are also expected to kick up around that time, Storm Team 4 says.

Flight delays of several hours were reported at LaGuardia and other local airports because of heavy fog earlier in the day, and delays were expected to persist through the evening hours.

The wet weather shouldn't put an end to the warm streak. Temperatures Tuesday are also forecast to top 60 degrees and though things could cool down a bit later in the week, the mercury won't drop back below seasonal averages.

On Sunday, record highs were reported at both of New York City's airports, Islip, and Bridgeport, Connecticut.
