New School's Kerrey: Building Occupation “Illegal”

New School University president Bob Kerrey has told the New York Post that the occupation of a campus building by a band of activists was "illegal'' and "not a legitimate protest.''
    
Kerrey told the New York Post on Saturday that the ragtag bunch of protesters who broke into the campus building and occupied it for about five hours deserved to be arrested.
    
He said he called the New York Police Department and demanded that the occupiers be extracted from the Union Square building.
 
Police arrested 19 people inside. Three other protesters were arrested outside.
    
The protesters had demanded the removal of Kerrey as president of the school.
    
The former Nebraska governor and senator said he would not leave the "quality'' of his life ``deteriorates.''
