New Rochelle Cop Accused of Having Online Sex Chats With 15-Year-Old Girl

Matthew Melillo, 32, was arraigned on a felony complaint charging him with attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor

A New Rochelle police officer has been charged with having inappropriate online sexual conversations with an undercover investigator posing as a 15-year-old girl, authorities said.

Matthew Melillo, 32, was arraigned on a felony complaint charging him with attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore says Melillo allegedly engaged an undercover investigator from her office in a series of online chat conversations between Aug. 3 and Aug. 29. The investigator made it clear throughout the chats that "she" was a 15-year-old girl, DiFiore said.

In their conversations, Melillo talked about various specific sexual acts in which he would engage the teenager, DiFiore said.

He also allegedly sent a video he claimed to be of himself in a sexual situation while he was chatting online with the 15-year-old girl.

Melillo was arrested Tuesday. Information on an attorney wasn't immediately available. He's scheduled to appear in City Court Wednesday.

If convicted, Melillo faces up to four years in state prison.
