Iona College Briefly Placed on Lockdown, Nothing Found

Police officers swept through the New Rochelle campus on Saturday afternoon, according to New Rochelle police

The Iona College campus was briefly placed on lockdown Saturday after police received a phone threat, but police found no gunman, authorities said.

Police officers swept through the New Rochelle campus on Saturday afternoon, according to New Rochelle police. The measures were taken after Yonkers police received a cell phone threat about the college from a number that has been used to make repeated false threats to the department, police said.

The campus was placed on lockdown, said Dawn Insanalli, director of media relations at the college, who initially said the investigation was regarding an individual "who may or may not have a gun."
