New Jersey Mother Dies Trying to Break Up Family Fight

A 45-year-old New Jersey mother died of cardiac arrest when she tried to break up a domestic dispute between her son and his girlfriend, authorities said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said Ana Rojas-Jovel was trying to intervene in a fight between her son, 28-year-old Juan Martinez Rojas, and 25-year-old Claudia Hernandez Soriano, who were fighting in front of a child after returning to their Waldwick home after a party.

Authorities said that Hernandez Soriano allegedly assaulted Rojas-Jovel, who then had a cardiac event and died.

Hernandez Soriano was charged with reckless manslaughter. Martinez Rojas was charged with child endangerment.

Both are due in court Thursday. Attorney information for the couple wasn't available.
