East Rutherford man had been fishing Wednesday with his son in Long Branch

A New Jersey man struck by lightning during yesterday's powerful storms has died from his injuries, police said Thursday.

Sebastian Castillo, 41, of East Rutherford was fishing with his son on a beach in Long Branch yesterday evening when he was struck by lightning.

The duo had earlier been in Belmar but were having little or no luck there and moved up the coast a few miles to try their luck in Long Branch, according to police Long Branch Police Capt Jason Roebuck.

He was stuck at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday and was taken to Monmouth Medical Center in critical condition.
