New Jersey One of Country's Best States for Trick-or-Treating: Report

It’s October. A time for scary movies, costumes and everyone’s favorite: Halloween candy. And based on a new report kids in New Jersey could have an easy time satisfying their sweet tooth.

According to the analysis by a highly-popular shopping app, Ibotta, New Jersey ranks third in the country in candy spending the week leading up to the Oct. 31 holiday, according to the report by Ibotta, the app that reads receipts. The report referenced data from 150,000 receipts that included Halloween candy from 2015 and 2016.

NJ.com reports that Ibotta found the national average people spent on Halloween candy over the last two years was $16.45. Folks in New Jersey spent a whopping $24.36.

Oregon spends the most on candy at more than $40 per person and Washington State spends the second most and Utah and California round out the top five. Ohio was the cheapest.

Anyone looking to strike a deal when buying their candy for holiday should head out four days before Halloween. The prices sky rocket the day before Halloween, Ibotta found.
