NJ Father Arrested After Son, 4, Backs Car Into Wall: Police

A New Jersey father was arrested on endangerment charges after police say his 4-year-old son drove his car into a brick stairway wall when the father left the boy and his daughter alone in the vehicle Monday morning.

Tavaris Reevey, 41, was arrested after his son crashed the car into the structure near Rustic Drive in Ocean Township. The boy and his 2-year-old sister, who was also in the car, were not hurt.

Police allege Reevey left his children in the car and the keys in the ignition. His son then climbed over the front seat and put the car in reverse, sending the vehicle rolling across the parking lot until it hit the wall, officials said.

Police say that while arresting Reevey, they learned he had an active contempt of court warrant in Asbury Park.

Reevey was released without bond and his children were turned over to their mother.
