4 Indicted in Death of Mother Killed in Cellphone Robbery

Four people have been indicted on felony murder charges stemming from the fatal shooting of a mother killed during a cellphone robbery last year.

NJ.com reports an Essex County grand jury handed up the indictment late last month.

The defendants — 21-year-old Mumit Marrow, of Newark; 28-year-old Perry Howard, of Bloomfield and 22-year-old Massai Laboo, and 25-year-old Lauren Whatley, 25, both of Irvington — also face murder, robbery and weapons charges stemming from the Nov. 8 shooting of 22-year-old Newark resident Ana Satian.

Authorities have said Satian was walking in to a friend's house in Newark when at least two of the defendants approached her, stole her cellphone and shot her. She died the next day at a hospital.

Satian was the mother of two young children.
