Prosecutors: NJ Man Fatally Shot During Robbery

Abdul Hutson of Irvington was found by Orange police around 10:30 p.m

Essex County prosecutors say a man was shot to death during an apparent street robbery.

Acting County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray says 31-year-old Abdul Hutson of Irvington was found by Orange police around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Cleveland Street. The officers had gone there for a reported assault.

Murray says Hutson was found wounded in the street and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Further details on the shooting, including how many times Hutson was shot and what type of weapon was used, were not disclosed.

The slaying is under investigation by the prosecutor's homicide and major crimes task force.
