Registered New Jersey Sex Offender Tried to Lure Girls into Pickup Truck: Police

Nicholas Ravaioli, 29, was arrested on charges of luring and child endangerment

Police arrested a registered sex offender in New Jersey after he allegedly tried to lure two teenage girls into his pickup truck Tuesday morning.

Nicholas Ravaioli, 29, of Jackson Township allegedly approached a 14-year-old girl in the area of Pinemere Avenue in Lakewood at about 8 a.m, then tried to proposition her into his black Nissan Frontier pickup truck. About an hour later, he approached another 15-year-old girl in the area of Kimberly Avenue and solicited her, police said.

Both girls fled and told their parents about the stranger. The parents called police, who quickly located Ravaioli, who was still driving around in the area.

Ravaioli was arrested on charges of luring and endangering the welfare of a child. He remains in Ocean County Jail on $300,000 bail.

He was required to register as a sex offender due to a 2006 incident in Jackson.

It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Authorities are asking any additional potential victims to contact the prosecutor's office at 732-929-2927 or Lakewood police at 732-363-0200.
