Police to Conduct Active Shooter Drill at New Jersey Outlet Mall Thursday

Law enforcement agencies will be conducting a drill at a New Jersey shopping outlet Thursday in which they'll simulate a response to an active shooter situation, officials say.

The public shouldn't be alarmed by the activity at the Jackson Outlets at 8 a.m. A mobile command post and police vehicles will be in the parking lot, and members of several municipal police departments, along with the county sheriff's department and state police will be set up there, officials say.

Police will be conducting various responses to active shooter scenarios, and the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness will be on hand to observe and critique the agencies' performance, according to officials.

The drill will end at about 9:30 a.m.
