New Jersey Doctor Saves Drowning Boy's Life on Vacation

A northern New Jersey doctor is being called a hero after he saved a drowning 3-year-old's life while on vacation at the Jersey shore town of Wildwood Crest.

Sgt. Edward Gorski says Dr. Jonathan O'Brien saw the unconscious child floating face down in a pool at the Stockton Beach House on Monday afternoon.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the East Stockton Road condo complex has no designated lifeguard.

Police say O'Brien successfully resuscitated the East Greenwich Township boy, who regained consciousness as police and rescue crews arrived on scene.

The boy was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center before being transferred to a children's hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. He was released Wednesday.

The Morris County doctor is a specialist in maternal-fetal medicine at New Jersey Perinatal Associates.
