Neiman Marcus Coming to Long Island

The expansion at Roosevelt Field is expected to cost more than $200 million and be completed in 2015.

Luxury retailer Neiman Marcus will be the centerpiece of a Long Island mall undergoing a major expansion and redevelopment.

The first full-line Neiman store on Long Island will be at Roosevelt Field in Garden City

The Dallas-based retailer has been trying to come to Long Island for 16 years. It had hoped to anchor an upscale mall project proposed for Syosset. But that project became stalled over community and environmental concerns.

The expansion at Roosevelt Field is expected to cost more than $200 million and be completed in 2015.

Neiman said it decided to change course a few months ago. It said it was impressed with all the retailers at Roosevelt.

The 100,000-square-foot building Neiman will occupy also will feature a food pavilion that will replace a food court.
