A Friday afternoon at sea took a turn for the worse when two good samaritans discovered a man floating in the water at Jones Beach on Friday.
The two passengers were boating in the Jones Beach inlet at 2:15 p.m. when they noticed 63-year-old Daniel Boyle floating near the west channel and pulled him aboard, authorities said.
Boyle was then transported to the Jones Beach Coast Guard Station by boat and taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Prior to his death, Boyle was boating alone. Freeport Fire Department divers confirmed there were no other people trapped underneath the boat.
