A Brooklyn family's nanny cam caught a burglar stealing an Apple laptop, cash and jewelry from their home while they were out of town.
The video from the camera shows the burglar, wearing a stocking cap, hooded sweatshirt and gloves, placing a laptop into a bag, along with other items, right next to a baby's crib in the family's Brighton Beach home.
He made off with $5,000 worth of valuables, police said.
The residents were out of town for the weekend when the burglar slipped in through a rear window at about 9 p.m. on May 4, police said.
Alexey Chizhov told NBC 4 New York it was a last-minute decision to turn on the camera before he and his family left.
"That day when we were leaving to Washington, I decided to put it on," he said. "The cameras were not obtained for security purposes, because we've never had any burglars in our household, but I was like, 'Why not?'"
Police are asking anyone with information about the burglary to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
