Nanny Accused of Repeatedly Slapping 2-Week-Old Baby

A 2-week-old baby's pained cries led her parents to discover video of their nanny slapping the child repeatedly, Nassau County police said Friday.

Stacy Sakeran, 57, of Jamaica, Queens, was working as a nanny for a family in Searingtown. According to a police statement, the baby's cries in the wee hours Friday morning prompted her parents to review footage from a camera in the infant's room.

They "observed their nanny forcefully moving the baby around and slapping her in the face," police said.

Archived video from the camera also showed the nanny allegedly hitting the baby on May 30 as well.

Sakeran was arrested early Friday and faces two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
