Witnesses Blame Officers for Bronx Dirt Bike Crash

An elderly man was injured Sunday night in the Bronx when he was struck by a dirt bike, and some witnesses are saying police caused the crash.

Officials say a group of teens were riding dirt bikes in Pelham Parkway when one of the bikers lost control and crashed into the sidewalk where an elderly man was walking.

Police are investigating claims by witnesses that officers in a police cruiser were chasing the bikers and intentionally rammed one biker causing the accident.

The elderly man was struck in the leg by the bike and bike's operator suffered head injuries, authorities said. They were both taken to Jacobi Hospital where they were listed in serious but stable condition.

A similar claim has been made in a fatal dirt bike accident in the Bronx last summer that was caught on surveillance video.
