Cop Hurt When Car Hits Him in East Harlem: NYPD

A person of interest is in custody

A police officer sustained a minor injury when a driver he attempted to pull over in East Harlem struck and dragged him a short distance before speeding off. 

The officer was conducting a checkpoint at East 111th Street and Third Avenue just after 5 p.m., according to the NYPD. When he attempted to pull over a gray 2004 Mercedes, the driver took off, dragging the officer about 10 feet.

The officer had minor injuries to the leg and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital.

Police said they had a person of interest in custody.
