An NYPD officer has been accused of paying for sex with an underage prostitute and recording video of their encounters.
Raul Olmeda was indicted on 67 counts Tuesday -- including 15 counts of sexually motivated felony and five counts of third-degree rape -- after authorities said he repeatedly paid the teenage girl for sex between January and April.
"The defendant preyed on the vulnerable young woman and videotaped his demeaning and dehumanizing acts," said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark. "It is especially disturbing that these crimes are alleged against a member of the NYPD."
Clark’s office said that Olmeda, a 40-year-old officer assigned to the 42nd Precinct, allegedly had sexual encounters with the girl on multiple occasions in the first part of the year, during which he recorded video. When detectives with the NYPD’s internal affairs bureau executed a search warrant on his home, prosecutors said they found several hard drives and other electronic media.
NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill said Olmeda’s alleged actions were "egregious."
"The fact that the defendant is an NYPD officer evidences an unconscionable violation of his oath to uphold the law and protect the public," said O'Neill.
Olmeda was placed on modified duty after the indictment. Attorney information for the man wasn’t immediately available.
