3 Men Accused in Series of Gang Rapes in Bronx, Manhattan After Luring Women Online: NYPD

Three men are accused in a series of gang rapes in Manhattan and the Bronx over the last several weeks involving women they allegedly lured online, police say.

Isaiah Rivera, 31, Joey Cruz, 26, and Fernando Sandel, 26, have allegedly been involved in three gang rapes since June 28, police say.

Sandel, of the Bronx, was arrested Friday on rape, robbery and strangulation charges. Rivera and Cruz were cuffed Sunday and charged Monday night on the same charges.

In each case, the victim was lured into an encounter after meeting one of the suspects online, police said

The suspects are accused in a June 28 rape and robbery of a 20-year-old woman on a South Bronx rooftop, an Aug. 3 rape and robbery of a 34-year-old woman at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, near Grand Central Terminal, and an Aug. 4 rape and robbery of a 32-year-old woman in her apartment near Gramercy Park.

The two women who reported the most recent rapes told investigators they were sprayed in the face with pepper spray or a similar irritant and tied up.

They accused the suspects of stealing cellphones and other items.

Attorney information for the suspects wasn't immediately available.
