NYC Sanitation Worker Killed on the Job

A New York City sanitation worker has died after being pinned between a tractor trailer and his garbage truck.  City officials say Frank Justich died Tuesday morning while  working in Astoria, Queens.

He had been with the department for 11 years.  He was 41 years old.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he had reached out to Justich's family.  "This morning, I talked with his wife Stacy and expressed our deepest condolences, as did Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty, who joined her at the hospital.  You should know that she and her husband have two daughters, ages one and four," he said.

"He was really well liked in their district,” said Harry Nespoli, President of the Uniformed Sanitationmen’s Association told the Queens Courier. “He was in very good shape; he practiced martial arts he used to talk sports with the guys. Unfortunately, God takes the good.”
