New Yorkers who want to protect their identities can take advantage of free shredders set up at 16 locations in all five boroughs.
The shredders will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The New York City Department of Consumer Affairs says documents that are good candidates for shredding include bank statements that are at least one year old, credit card applications and pay stubs.
