New York City has named four neighborhoods it considers contenders for Amazon’s second North American headquarters, called HQ2. The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) said these four neighborhoods met Amazon’s criteria of 500,000 square feet of existing office building space and 8 million square feet of expansion potential. They are also in close proximity to mass transit and have buildings that are well-connected to each other. Although the state’s major cities like Buffalo-Rochester, Syracuse and Albany are in the running for the headquarters, Howard Zemsky, the state's top economic development official, said he expects New York to be among the top contenders for the retail tech giant's project. If New York City wins it all, Amazon’s second headquarters will likely be in one of these neighborhoods.
