A crowd of moviegoers dashed out of a Union Square theater over the weekend after a mumbling man entered the cinema, police said.
The man wandered into a screening of Damien Chazelle’s comedy “La La Land” sometime before 11:45 p.m. Saturday at Regal Union Square Stadium.
The man walked up to the front of the auditorium holding a cup and started muttering things, police said.
That’s when a stampede formed as panicked audience members took off for the exits, according to witnesses and police.
Video from the theater, shows bags and scattered snacks apparently left by the frightened patrons.
No injuries were reported and no arrests were made, police said.
