Mom Who Allegedly Abandoned Baby on Subway Found Dead in Mississippi River: Police

A mother who was charged with abandoning her baby girl on a Manhattan subway platform back in 2014 has been found dead in the Mississippi River, police say.

The remains of Frankea Dabbs, 22, were identified Monday. Her body was found floating in the Mississippi River by a boat crew last Wednesday.

Authorities in St. Louis are calling her death suspicious and are waiting for the results of an autopsy.

NBC affiliate WRAL reported in 2014 that Dabbs had witnessed an unsolved murder.

In 2014, police said Dabbs pushed her 10-month-old daughter's stroller off a No. 1 train and onto a platform at the Columbus Circle station and got back in the subway car alone.

Dabbs has previous arrests in multiple states on charges including drugs, assault, prostitution and breaking and entering. Her defense attorney said in court it appears those charges were dismissed and Dabbs was never convicted.
