NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio Campaigns in Iowa as He Mulls Presidential Run

Mayor Bill de Blasio campaigned in Iowa on Saturday night amid speculation that he is mulling a presidential run.

De Blasio tweeted a photo of himself in Sioux City, Iowa, that said: "Real change starts here."

He also tweeted: "People want to talk about the issues: families, jobs, healthcare; those are the issues of the Democratic Party. I don’t care if some place has historically voted republican [sic], it’s on us to go there and bring our case to the people."

He told Democrats there that he hasn't ruled out running for president, the Sioux City Journal reported

De Blasio also visited New Hampshire earlier this month.

A statewide Quinnipiac poll in January found de Blasio came in last among five New York political leaders who are in the national spotlight, including Rep. Alexandria Ocascio-Cortez, who is too young to be president.

Only 5 percent said de Blasio would make the best president.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

De Blasio later shrugged off the poll.

“I have spent a lot of time in dead last in many a poll in many a race,” he told The New York Times. “It’s not where you start. It’s where you end.”
