A New York City man has been sentenced after his baby was smothered with blankets while he was high.

Claude Tinnin pleaded guilty in Manhattan Criminal Court to manslaughter for the 2012 death of 8-month-old August Tinnin.

Tinnin will serve between three and nine years in prison.

His lawyer says the incident resulted from "a combination of poor judgment and chronic marijuana use."
