Police Looking for Man Accused of Trying to Rape Woman in Park Slope

The 21-year-old woman was walking in Park Slope

Police are looking for a man accused of attempting to rape a woman on a residential Brooklyn street early Sunday morning before taking off in a car.

The 21-year-old woman was walking on Second Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, in Park Slope at about 4:30 a.m. when the man came up from behind her.

He grabbed her, pushed her to the ground and attempted to rape her, but she yelled for help and fought him off, police said.

He then ran to a dark-colored, four-door Acura and sped west down Second Street.

Police didn’t say if the woman was injured during the attempted rape.

The suspect is believed to be between 20 and 25 years old.

Residents of the neighborhood told NBC 4 New York on Wednesday that they are on high alert.

"If I'm coming home late at night, I won't walk home. I'll take a cab," said Madeleine Brown.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
