NYC Man, 67, Dies After Falling From Freight Train: Police

Authorities say a body found along railroad tracks in the Hudson Valley is that of a New York City man who fell off a northbound freight train.

The Register-Star of Hudson reports the Columbia County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday said 67-year-old Juan Cordero hopped aboard the train in New York City on Sunday and fell off where the tracks run along the Hudson River in Germantown, 35 miles south of Albany.

His body was found Monday morning by an Amtrak employee.

Police say an autopsy conducted at an Albany hospital determined Cordero died from multiple blunt-force injuries indicative of falling from a moving train. Officials say he apparently had hopped the freight train illegally.
