Rest of Weekend Is Sunny and Mild, But Thunderstorms Coming

Mild weather that cooled the tri-state area last week continued on Sunday, but a warm front is on its way and may bring with it severe thunderstorms and heavy rain, Storm Team 4 says.

Skies were mostly sunny Sunday as temperatures warmed to the mid 70s, making for a pleasant June afternoon. Temps are still slightly below normal for this time of year, but that will change as the week progresses and highs reach the mid 80s.

Clouds will develop overnight Sunday as a frontal system draws closer from the west. The system will move into our area on Monday. Rain and thunderstorms will become increasingly likely Monday afternoon and night. Some of the storms could be strong, especially in the western portions of the tri-state area, Storm Team 4 says. Heavy rain, hail and gusty winds are all possible as the evening wears on.

Scattered thunderstorms will stick around on Tuesday, as temperatures rise to the low 80s. It's expected to be warm and muggy throughout the day with some clouds in the sky.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will mostly be sunny and hot, with temperatures reaching the mid 80s as the week progresses.
