NYC First Lady Part of New Domestic Violence Awareness Push

First Lady Chirlane McCray is spearheading a new push to raise awareness of domestic violence in New York City.

The campaign starts Thursday. During October, which is National Domestic Violence month, all Chase Bank ATM screens will carry a message urging victims of domestic violence to seek help.

The ATM message will provide phone numbers that can be used to call for help.

McCray touted the public-private partnership and said she hoped it will "elevate the difficult conversation" about domestic violence.

The city's first lady has placed domestic violence, along with mental health initiatives, among her signature policy issues.

The campaign was jointly created by the bank, the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence and the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City.
