Firefighter Arrested After Bar Fight, Kicking Officer: NYPD

A New York City firefighter was arrested early Sunday after police say he got into a fight at a hotel bar on Staten Island, hit a security guard, kicked a police officer and threatened hospital employees.

Police say the firefighter got into a fight with another patron while off duty at the bar at a Hilton Garden Inn in the Bloomfield area at about 2:30 a.m.

A security guard tried to pull the firefighter from the bar and the man hit him, police say. When police arrived, the firefighter took a “combative stance” and started flailing his arms around as an officer tried to make an arrest.

Once he was handcuffed, police say, the firefighter kicked an officer.

The firefighter and officer were both then taken to a hospital. Police say that once there, the firefighter threatened hospital staff.

The officer was treated and released.

The firefighter is charged with assault, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
