Pedestrian Fatality Video to Be Used in NYC Cabbie Training

New York City cab drivers and other city workers will soon be required to watch a video about pedestrians killed by automobiles as part of the city's effort to reduce such fatalities.

The video shows interviews with five grieving families, including a woman whose husband was killed in 2006 by an NYPD tow truck while bicycling, the New York Post reports.

It also will be shown to drivers at the MTA, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, as well as the NYPD.

Taxi and Limousine Commissioner Meera Joshi says the video shows "the awesome responsibility a driver has to everyone around them."

It's part of the city's Vision Zero program.
