Nine people were arrested at a Black Lives Matter protest in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, police said.
Protesters took to 34th Street near Macy's around sunset, causing some traffic jams.
"You are ordered to leave the roadway and utilize the available sidewalk," police could be heard saying over a speaker.
One of the people arrested was Ramsey Orta — the man who filmed the Eric Garner choke-hold video.
The protests came the same night that the governor of North Carolina declared a state of emergency in Charlotte amid unrest in the city. One man was shot and critically injured during protests there Wednesday and a number of officers were injured on Tuesday night.
Keith Lamont Scott, 43, was shot and killed by police in Charlotte on Tuesday.

There has also been anger across the country over the police killing of 40-year-old Terence Crutcher in Tulsa last Friday.
