5 Injured When Vehicle Slams Into NYPD SUV in Manhattan: Police

Five people were injured when a vehicle crashed into a police SUV in Manhattan on Monday night.

The vehicle hit the police SUV around 10:36 p.m. near Lexington Avenue and East 96th Street on the Upper East Side.

The impact of the crash launched the police SUV onto the sidewalk, where it struck a man and woman.

All five injuries were minor, police said. The injured were taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's, New York–Presbyterian Hospital, and Metropolitan Hospital Center.

The man on the sidewalk suffered a broken foot and the woman on the sidewalk had knee pain. The two officers were taken to an area hospital for neck and back pain.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the police SUV was also taken to a hospital. It wasn’t immediately clear if he or she would face charges.
