A woman's body was found near a New York middle school on Saturday, police said.
Police received reports around 5:30 a.m. that an unresponsive person was lying on the ground in an undeveloped area near the entrance of Port Jervis Middle School. EMS determined that the person, identified as a 44-year-old woman, was dead.
A crime scene was set up and police investigated for four hours Saturday morning.
The cause of the woman's death is unknown and an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday by the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office, police said.
The woman has not been identified by authorities.
