NY Woman Dies of Swine Flu in Vegas

An elderly New York woman infected with the swine-flu virus has died in Nevada, the first such death in the state, officials say.

The 70-year-old, who had underlying health conditions, had swine flu before she arrived in Las Vegas, the Southern Nevada Health District said yesterday.

The health district did not release the woman's name or other recent travel.

Conditions that increase a person's risk include being older than 65 or under 5, pregnancy, heart or lung problems, a compromised immune system and diabetes.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that at least 45 H1N1 deaths have been reported nationwide, with about a dozen being reported in New York.
