NY Students Steaming Over Mass Dress Code Crackdown

Dozens of Staten Island high school students are fuming over a dress code crackdown that forced them to cover up on a steamy day.

The Staten Island Advance reports that Friday's crackdown at Tottenville High School affected at least 100 students, mostly girls.

The students either had to cover up or wait in the school auditorium until a parent arrived with different clothes.

The school's dress code prohibits tank tops, low-cut blouses and halter tops.

Shorts and skirts are supposed to be at "relaxed hand level."

Linda Ferraro said her daughter escaped punishment because she hid behind a friend.

Ferraro told the Advance that if she had wanted a dress code, she would have sent her daughter to a Catholic school.
