Man Stabs Brother-in-Law During Argument on Long Island: Police

An argument between two brothers-in-law turned violent when one of them stabbed the other at a Long Island home, police said. 

Police said that a man stabbed his brother-in-law around 9 p.m. Wednesday in St. James in Suffolk County.

The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. His condition wasn't immediately known. 

His brother-in-law was arrested and charged with assault. No one else was hurt, according to Suffolk County police. 

Law enforcement sources said Wednesday night that a child was seen in a street with blood on his or her clothing after the stabbing, although police could not confirm those reports. 

There was a heavy police presence near Mills Pond Road Wednesday night after the stabbing. 

Police said an investigation is ongoing.
